The Restaurant at The Northport Hotel Announces Culinary Team and Soft Opening

Updated: Nov 12, 2023

The Restaurant at The Northport Hotel is thrilled to introduce its seasoned culinary team, led by Executive Chef Michael Ross. The restaurant is now in a soft opening phase, with a grand opening week starting October 30th.

Chef Michael Ross has joined the team at The Northport Hotel in the position of Executive Chef.

Michael is a highly experienced Chef with over 35 years of professional cooking under his belt. As a resident of Huntington, Michael is delighted to bring the joy of living, celebrating, and eating well to the community. He has earned a name for himself as the main culinary force for a number of Long Island restaurants, such as Pearl in Island Park, Jewel in Melville, Jedediah’s at The Jedediah Hawkins Inn in Jamesport, and Fiddleheads American Fish House & Grill in Oyster Bay, just to name a few.

Michael has always had a passion for food, and after attending Southampton College as a Marine Biology Major, he decided to change course and attend The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y. He did his apprenticeship at some of New York City’s groundbreaking nouvelle outposts.

Michael prides himself on keeping the menu fresh and inspiring, serving diners well-crafted dishes with strict attention to detail.

Michael is joined in the kitchen by two renowned chefs in their own right.

Chef Juan Jimenez comes to The Northport Hotel kitchen, having been the driving force behind the cuisine at The Mill Pond House in Centerport. Having spent 18 years at The Mill Pond House, Juan has a great understanding of the pulse of the community. Juan is a highly talented and energetic Chef, and his high standards and bold flavors bring a vibrant and complimentary style to the kitchen.

Chef David Glatzerman is Michael's longtime collaborator and friend. David is an amazing culinary mind and is the facilitator behind the cuisine at The Northport Hotel. Having worked with Michael for many years, the two Chefs share a unique culinary kinship. David has also been the Culinary Genius behind his own kitchens, including Jack Halyards in Oyster Bay and a stint at The Lakehouse in Bayshore. David is a graduate of The New York Restaurant School and has proven to possess a high culinary IQ. As Michael is fond of saying, “David’s presence in the kitchen is a game-changer.”

The Northport Hotel counts itself as lucky and excited to have Juan and David as key members of the kitchen hierarchy.

During the soft opening phase, the restaurant will offer a variety of culinary delights, and the bar will also be open, offering a range of signature cocktails and an extensive wine list, ensuring that there's a perfect drink to complement the culinary experience.

Soft opening hours are Sunday – Thursday from 4:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. and Friday & Saturday from 4:30 p.m. – 10 p.m. During this time, bar & table service is walk-in only on a first-come, first-served basis.

The restaurant will be adding a light bites menu on Friday & Saturday from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. starting Friday, November 3, and will announce additional hours, including extended hours, lunch, brunch, and holiday availability in the coming weeks. The restaurant reservation system will go live on the Hotel’s website on Monday, October 23, for the grand opening week and beyond.

The Restaurant at the Northport Hotel looks forward to welcoming guests and providing them with an unforgettable dining experience.
