Northport Mayor offers high praise of new building after site visit
When Northport Mayor Donna Koch arrived at Kevin O’Neill’s office for a tour of The Northport Hotel Wednesday, April 19 at noon, he was pumped up.
Two hours earlier the telephone number for reservations, 631-628-7000, had just gone live. And, when the mayor arrived, the phones in Mr. O’Neill’s office were ringing off the hook.
“It’s refreshing to hear the register ringing and it’s finally going the other way instead of just burning through the checkbook,” Mr. O’Neill said about the six year journey to build the three-story, 26-room hotel on the north east corner of Main Street and Woodside Avenue in the heart of Northport Village.
